How the pack meets the wall

Re-engineered for your wall, not reinvented.

We specialise in EV battery packs taken directly from electric vehicles — kept intact, signed off, and bridged to the solar inverter you already have.

Illustration of the Better Life Batteries workshop

An EV pack is built to propel a 2-tonne car at highway speed. That's vastly more capacity than a house needs. So we don't shrink it — we let it idle.

A key part of our tech is the communication bridge we've engineered between the EV battery and your solar inverter. We act as a translator between the original factory Battery Management System and the supported inverters — Fronius, GoodWe and more.

This approach keeps the original pack intact with its BMS as it was built from the factory. You get optimal performance and safety out of the box — and nobody had to dismantle a working pack to get there.

At a glance

The technical short answer.

Battery type

LFP & NCA · 57.5 – 75 kWh

EV packs come in several chemistries and capacities. Check the Batteries page for current stock specs.

BMS

Original, EV-integrated

Factory Battery Management System stays in place — cell balancing, thermal monitoring, voltage protection all intact.

Inverter compatibility

Most modern hybrids

Fronius GEN24 Plus · GoodWe ET/EH. Full list on the checklist.

Safety features

Factory-grade + extras

Thermal management and voltage protection from the BMS, plus cell voltage difference monitoring we add on top.

Three pillars

What makes a Better Life battery different.

01

Intact EV pack

We use the original pack without dismantling the modules. The pack stays in factory configuration, preserving the safety features, balance and performance built into it.

02

Seamless inverter integration

Designed to integrate easily with common solar inverters. We provide guidance on compatible models and ensure the battery communicates cleanly with your system.

03

Original BMS

Cell balancing, temperature monitoring and safety protocols exactly as they were in the vehicle. No aftermarket modifications, no complexity.

What's bolted on

The extras that make it installable.

Built-in from the factory. Added on top. Either way, you get the same answer: safer than you'd expect.

Emergency stop

One button, all closed.

Closes the battery contactors and isolates the supply so emergency services can access the property safely.

Aux battery recovery

Never stuck.

Continuous aux-battery monitoring closes the main contactors automatically, plus a physical recovery button for hassle-free startup.

Surge protection

Queensland has weather.

Battery-to-inverter comms lines are sensitive to storms. We include surge protection to keep the BMS safe.

Stand & weather guard

Horizontal or vertical.

Stand options — horizontal or vertical — come standard with every battery, along with weather-guarding as appropriate.

Assessment services

Got a pack already? Let's test it.

We test every battery for safety and function before it leaves the workshop — and we also perform mobile health assessments on packs you've already sourced.

Tier 1

Mobile pre-purchase

Salvage-yard pre-purchase report (BMS records) and visual condition inspection.

  • State of charge
  • State of health
  • Cell min & max charge
  • Dead cells or modules
  • Total charge/discharge
  • Estimated kilometres
Tier 2

Functional testing

Transport to the workshop for controlled-environment cycling.

  • Charge/discharge verification
  • Voltage tolerance check
  • Defect identification
  • Controlled-environment performance
Tier 3

Miscellaneous

Other battery solutions to get your project moving.

  • Flat pack needing a charge?
  • LFP cells needing voltage balancing?
  • Different brand — often fine

Ready to see what's on the bench?

Each pack has a name and a health report.

Every unit is individually assessed before it's posted. When they're ready, they're listed. When they're gone, they're gone.
